RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommendation

Adopt a resolution Amending the City Classification Plan by Adopting the Updates to the Classification Specification Revisions for Senior Development Project Coordinator.

Body

DISCUSSION:

The Human Resources Department and Community Development Department prepared updates to the attached classification specification for Senior Development Project Manager in preparation for the recruitment. The current classification specification was last updated in 2014 and is in need of a few modifications for enhanced clarification for the incoming employee. We are in the process of recruiting the position, but believe it is important to update the classification specification to reflect the changes over time.

Edits to the classification specification are recommended to enhance the Distinguishing Characteristics, Essential Duties, Knowledge, Abilities, and broaden the experience and education sections. These updates will also follow a more consistent classification specification template to be used in future updates.

The salary for the Senior Development Project Coordinator is aligned with Senior Planner. A salary study was also conducted and showed that the current salary was within our +/-5% citywide market threshold. No salary adjustment is needed at this time.

The employee bargaining group was provided an opportunity to review and provide input on the recommendations.

The Civil Service Commission recommended the attached changes to the class specification at their meeting on June 17, 2019.

FINANCIAL IMPACTS:

No additional funding is required beyond that already allocated and approved in the City budget.

CEQA:

The Human Resources Director has determined that the Recommended Action described in this Agenda Report is not subject to CEQA, pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15060(c).
