DISCUSSION:
This proclamation is requested by the Napa Police Department in recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW), observed annually during the second week of April. This week honors telecommunications personnel for their dedication, service, and sacrifice in supporting public safety.
NPSTW was established in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California. In 1994, President William J. Clinton signed a Presidential Proclamation designating the second week of April as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
This observance provides an opportunity to recognize and thank telecommunications personnel across the nation for the vital role they serve in protecting our communities and supporting first responders.
Chief of Police Fabio Rodriguez and Sarah Freeman, 9-1-1 Communications Manager, will be present to accept the proclamation.
This proclamation complies with the Ceremonial Documents Policy (Resolution R2023-101), adopted by Council on October 3, 2023.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS:
None.
