Adopt a resolution approving the transfer of $191,000 from the Equipment Replacement Undesignated fund balance (660-35999) to the Equipment Replacement’s (66013100-56210) Fiscal Year 2026/2027 budget as documented by Council Budget Amendment No. 02P03.

DISCUSSION:
A total of 29 Police Department radios have exceeded their designated service life of seven years. These units are several years beyond their intended operational period and Motorola Solutions no longer provides support for replacement parts or software. These radios are essential to public safety operations, including emergency response, officer communication, and coordination during critical incidents. To ensure continuity of reliable communications, funding is requested to replace the radios on a one-for-one basis, providing dependable equipment for the next seven years of service.
The proposed action will approve a transfer of $191,000 from the Equipment Replacement undesignated fund balance (660-35999) to Equipment Replacement’s (66013100-56210) Fiscal Year 2026/2027 budget to support the anticipated replacement of Police Department radios essential to public safety operations.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS:
The attached Resolution and Council Budget Amendment No. 02P03 includes funding to support the anticipated replacement of Police Department radios essential to public safety operations. $191,000 of available undesignated fund balance would be used to facilitate this proposed action. The Equipment Replacement Reserves fund balance is estimated to be $1.1 million.

The Information Technology Manager has determined that the Recommended Action described in this Agenda Report is not subject to CEQA, pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15060 (c).
