DISCUSSION:
Since the Napa Art Walk Program was established in 2010, the community has selected a “People’s Choice” favorite, announced at the end of each exhibition. The on-line voting opportunity is available throughout the duration of the show at www.napaartwalk.org and promoted by the City, Arts Council Napa Valley, DoNapa, Visit Napa Valley, various media and through collateral. There are 14 sculptures in the current exhibition which is scheduled to end this month.
The winning sculpture is “Guermo En Inverno” (translation: Guermo in Winter), the 800-pound, 8.5-foot long bull created of Cor-ten steel and locust wood, which has been on display at Dwight Murray Plaza (see Attachment 2, photo). Guermo was created by artist Jamie Burnes of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Past winners of the People’s Choice have received gifts from Napa businesses and art supporters, and the art is featured on the Napa Art Walk brochure for the following exhibition.
