LABEL

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommendation

Adopt a resolution authorizing the Fire Chief to accept a grant from the California Fire Foundation, via Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) in the amount of $15,000, and authorizing an additional appropriation to the Fire Department Budget.

Body

DISCUSSION:

The Napa Fire Department recently received a grant from the California Fire Foundation via PG&E in the amount of $15,000.  Grant funds were awarded to assist agencies in addressing issues such as wildfires, floods and climate-caused disasters.  Funding was requested to purchase Wildland Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to replace current Wildland PPE that is outdated and in need of replacement.  The new PPE will be of the most recent technology and will be used to protect firefighters while they fight wildland fires such as those that burned within Napa County in 2017.

FINANCIAL IMPACTS:

Approval of the recommended action will positively impact the General Fund and increase the Napa Fire Department budget by $15,000 over a one-year period offset by reimbursement from the California Fire Foundation.  The following budget appropriations are requested for FY2018-19:

(Sources) Revenue:

49270-33703                     (Fire Operations other Local Agencies)                                          $15,000

(Uses) Expenditures:

49270-56105                     (Fire Operations non-recurring/Equipment)                     $15,000

CEQA:

The Fire Chief has determined that the recommended action described in this report is not subject to CEQA, pursuant to CEQA guidelines section 15060(c).
